What We've Been Up To... Recent Events...
WRAP Wellness Recovery Action Plan
Causeway held its first WRAP training in January this year which was facilitated by John Moodie from the Scottish Recovery Network. 13 Service Users attended the two day course to learn the concept of WRAP which explores five recovery concepts, hope, personal responsibility, education, self advocacy and support. One of the service users who attended said "the most important concept was hope for ourselves and the future". Our thanks to all who attended and to the Scottish Recovery Network.
Watch out for future WRAP training dates coming soon.
The Cynthia Show
January this year also saw us here at Causeway co-hosting The Cynthia Show along with our partners at Acumen and the East Renfrewshire Mental Health Network. This event was held at the Arc in Barrhead and was a hugh success. The Cynthia Show is a play that's aims to raise awareness of mental illness within the workplace it attempts to break down barriers and encourage employers to be more supportive when people are ill and think about managing stress at work more effectively. It does this through audience participation and interaction. Very cleverly written by creator and performer Amy McDonald the direction of the play depends on the responses from the audience who are encouraged to join in. Two of the cast are Causeway Service Users who have a wealth of lived experience and we are very pleased and proud of how far they have came and of how talented they are. A big Thank You to the cast and crew of the Cythnia Show and to partners who supported the event. If you haven't seen the play then we strongly recommend you do its very informative, uplifting and extremely funny.

On 28th January 2011 RAMH were delighted to launch the RAMH Carers Handbook.
This
handbook was researched and put together by the East Renfrewshire Carers'
Support Group who meet no the last Tuesday of every month at
15 Carlibar Road, Barrhead from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Causeway's New Greenhouse
It all started as a Google search for a recycling idea for the gardening group. three years and almost one thousand plastic bottles later, the construction of the Greenhouse is complete. as you can see it looks really impressive and it had already been tested by the weather. there were lots of people who helped the group including the Senior Citizen group who donated the bottles. The biggest help was the Wood Worx group who washed all the bottles and constructed the greenhouse. we will keep you posted and let you know what flowers or plants we grow in the coming months. |
